Resilience and Transformation

Processes of change in transitions require rapid and continuous cycles of decision, action, and reflection. “It’s a bit like navigating in rough waters. The more we navigate with others, the more complex coordination becomes. Navigation depends not only on the conditions of the sea but also of the boat and the crew; all conditions that may vary and change in each situation”, says Domenico Dentoni. His presentation ‘Resilience and Transformation’ will show that’s why we probably all navigate in slightly different ways. We usually first act and then, when we have the mental space, we reflect on how we acted.

The question Dentoni asks is: how can we coordinate with others to move our boat in meaningful, desirable directions? “We all know that systemic co-design can help, but how does it help exactly? My experience suggests that our ‘micro-actions’ of co-design steer the direction of our boat more than we imagine. Which words do we choose to invite actors to join? How do participants come up with ideas, integrate, and make them shine in and across groups?”

“All these ‘micro choices’ of co-design matter and reveal our underlying values”, says Dentoni. “Step after step, systemic co-design reveals that we are ready to maintain and to get rid of as we change in transitions. I want to open a conversation on what our practices of systemic co-design reveal – consciously or unconsciously – about our values, and how these practices will influence the change we wish to see in the world.

“It’s a bit like navigating in rough waters. The more we navigate with others, the more complex coordination becomes.”[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/sw3m60F4o7I” title=”Keynote by Domenico Dentoni and discussion panel on just digital life | (RSD12 Amsterdam)”]
