ESCalator ‘De Melksalon’ – Transitions in Dairy Farming

On Monday 9 December from 14:00 to 17:00, we dive into the world of system change in dairy farming during the ESCalator ‘De Melksalon’. Together with designer and researcher Sietske Klooster, we will explore how she drives systemic change within this sector. We also look for the Systemic Co-Design elements in her approach.

As an independent designer and researcher, Sietske Klooster specialises in shaping new physical experiences. She does this to set innovation and change processes in motion. In doing so, she literally incorporates different perspectives and values of those involved, in order to achieve systemic change through interaction. Through her long-term design research project, de Melksalon, she has developed her working method into a succession of working forms, tools and roles, with the aim of driving change processes.

Sietske made a visual reflection on this project in the format of a documentary and animation. She did this together with key players who she involved or inspired in this project, including farmers, entrepreneurs, industry, citizens and other makers.

Based on this visual document, lecturers Wina Smeenk (Inholland University of Applied Sciences) and Liliya Terzieva (Haagse Hogeschool) will explore the Systemic Co-Design elements in her approach in this ESCalator.
